The Leeds PIPES network provides homes, businesses, and public buildings with heat and hot water that is affordable, reliable, and low carbon. We’re regularly expanding the network and connecting more buildings to the benefits of district heating. There has never been a better time to connect.

What is the Leeds PIPES heat network?

The Leeds PIPES heat network is an innovative and reliable district heating solution that brings heat and hot water into taps, radiators, and heating systems of connected buildings.

The network currently uses heat created as a by-product from burning Leeds’ non-recyclable waste to keep connected homes, businesses, and public buildings warm at an affordable price. A system of underground pipes transfers heat from where it is generated to where it is needed.

By replacing thousands of polluting and inefficient fossil fuel powered heating systems with a greener alternative, the Leeds PIPES network is helping to reduce energy costs and end the city’s contribution to climate change.
