Construction Update: The Headrow Works

As part of the ongoing works to connect buildings to the Leeds PIPES heat network, our team will be extending the heat network by installing district heating pipework in the ground from The Headrow footway, across the bus lanes and footpath into the city centre.

These works will take place from 7.30am – 5.30pm, Monday to Sunday, with work starting on Saturday 15^th February 2025 and completing Monday 3^rd March 2025. A number of traffic and footpath diversions have been put in place and can be found in the following pages, relating to the three phases of work that will be completed within the 17 day period.

We will strive to keep any disruption and noise to a minimum as we connect more of Leeds City Centre to reliable, affordable, low carbon, heat and hot water.

Phases of work:

Phase 1 | 15^th & 16^th February 2025. Full road closure, including suspension of the Bus Lane. Be aware the footway will be closed on west bound closure (next to bus shelter)

Phase 2 | 15^th to 23^rd February 2025. East bound road closure, including suspension of the Bus Lane.

Please note that works vehicles will be parked within the closure on The Headrow to comply with Construction Design and Management regulations. There will also be suspension bus gates on Infirmary St and East Parade in line with bus gate timing on The Headrow.

Diversions:

Leaving the city diversion:

• From The Headrow turn left onto Park Row
• Right onto Infirmary St
• Right onto East Parade and continue onto Calverley St
• Turn left onto Portland St
• Continue onto Great George St and
• Then turn left onto Park St before re-joining Westgate

Heading into the city diversion for bus:

• Turn Left onto Oxford Place
• Following the road right onto Great George St, turn right onto Albions St before rejoining The Headrow
