Works on Flax Place
As part of the ongoing works to expand district heating across Leeds, our team will be commencing works on Flax Place on Monday 12th January.
These works will entail a full road closure on Flax Place between the junction of Richmond Street, and the entrance for the construction site on Flax Place, in both directions, starting on Monday 12th January at 7.00 am, until Sunday 15th January at 20:00 pm.
Works will take place from 7.30 am – 18.00 pm, Monday – Friday, with the possibility of occasional evening or weekend work and will also involve road excavations, including a diversion via Flax Place and Richmond Street.
This will also include the suspension of all car parking on the road within this section (approx. 40m: 10 no parking spaces).
We will strive to keep any disruption and noise to a minimum as we connect more of Leeds City Centre to reliable, affordable, low carbon, heating and hot water.

Southbound Diversion:
- From Flax Place, travel south and turn right onto Saxton Lane, then left onto Marsh Lane.
- Continue along Marsh Lane onto East Street and then turn left onto Richmond Street to rejoin the main route.
Northbound Diversion:
- From Richmond Street, continue to the junction with East Street and turn onto East Street.
- Proceed along South Accommodation Road, then perform a U-turn onto the A63 (inbound).
- Continue back along South Accommodation Road, merging onto East Street and then Marsh Lane.
- Make a U-turn at the York Road Bridge, then head southbound on Marsh Lane and turn left onto Saxton Lane, rejoining Flax Place.
